Driving the Future: Mercedes-Benz Trucks Prove Electric is Ready - Across All Industries

Published on 21 Nov 2025 • 3 min read

Mercedes-Benz Trucks is leading the way in sustainable transport with its latest all-electric vehicles. These vehicles have already proven their worth in real-world operations across the UK, making electric heavy-duty haulage a reality now.

eActros 600: Power, Range, and Performance

Named International Truck of the Year, the eActros 600 delivers the power and range needed for real commercial impact. At a 40-tonne gross combination weight (GCW), it can travel at least 500 km (310 miles) on a single charge.

Even with standard CCS charging at up to 400kW, the eActros can charge from 20–80% in under 60 minutes. When megawatt charging becomes widely available, that time drops to around 30 minutes - easily aligned with a driver’s statutory break. This means the truck could cover over 1,000 km (620 miles) per day with no added downtime.

UK fleets are already seeing the benefits.

“With the eActros 600, HIVED continues to redefine what a modern delivery company looks like,”

Mathias Krieger, Co-founder & CPO, HIVED

Infrastructure Investment: The Charging Network is Growing

Infrastructure is key - and the UK government is helping accelerate the shift. Through its £30 million Depot Charging Scheme, part of a wider £63 million EV investment, more than 200 HGV chargepoints will be installed across the country. Mercedes-Benz Trucks is also leading through investment, via Milence - a joint venture with Volvo Group and Traton Group - to build public charging networks across Europe. The first UK site in Immingham is already operational.

“We’re proud to support the infrastructure needed to make zero-emission transport a reality,”

James Venables, Head of Future Sustainability, Daimler Truck UK

The eActros 600 is making an impact in industries far beyond logistics.

  • Formula One: The Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team transported race cars from the UK to Zandvoort – proving a 673 km journey could be completed on a single charge.

  • Live Music: Sam Fender completed the first all-electric UK & Ireland tour, showing electric trucks can deliver even in high-pressure, high-performance environments.

“Hopefully this will show what’s possible and others will jump onboard too,”

Sam Fender
