Durite, a leader in vehicle safety, lighting and auto electrical parts, will be showcasing its new AI Low Bridge Detection System at this year’s RTX show in Stoneleigh, on 24th-26th June.

Durite, a leader in vehicle safety, lighting and auto electrical parts, will be showcasing its new AI Low Bridge Detection System at this year’s RTX show in Stoneleigh, on 24th-26th June.

The Durite Low Bridge Detection System utilises Smart AI-powered camera technology to detect and alert over-height vehicles to the presence of low bridges and also reads safety height signage.

High Accuracy 10Hz GPS, paired with the UK low bridge database provides precise location-based alerts. With the use of the vehicle’s trailer and cargo heights, the system provides accurate warnings and alerts to the driver via the connected R-Watch Display within the vehicle – giving the driver ample time to choose an alternative route.

The system is compatible with Durite’s range of vehicle safety camera equipment

“In the UK, heavy goods vehicle (HGV) bridge strikes are a significant problem,” says John Nobbs, UK Sales Manager for Durite. “They cause delays, disruptions and potentially high cost to the operator and the rail and road networks.”

According to Network Rail, there are over 1,532 bridge strikes annually, averaging one every six hours, and costing the rail industry over £20 million.

“With up to 5 bridge strikes recorded each day in the UK, Durite recognised the need to produce an advanced detection system which can significantly reduce the risk of collision for commercial vehicle operators. Our new AI Low Bridge Detection System aims to achieve this by using a combination of market-proven technology.”

GPS only systems can be ineffective in rural areas and built-up cities where large buildings lead to interference and signal loss. For Durite, using both the latest AI technology and GPS ensures the most accurate results for the fleet operators.

Comprehensive, innovative safety solutions - all under one roof

At this year’s RTX show, Durite is co-exhibiting with sister company ECCO, on stand R40, Hall 1. ECCO is a global leader renowned particularly for designing and manufacturing alarms and lighting solutions, including lightbars, beacons, and other safety products for the commercial and emergency vehicle sectors.

Visitors to the stand will be able to see a wide selection of the latest vehicle lighting and vehicle safety solutions from both companies, including a range of energy-efficient work lamps, perfect for electric vehicles.

Durite’s high-definition DVR (driver video recording) kits, 4G live-streaming DVR kits, CCTV kits and blind spot detection systems for HGV and vans will be on display, while ECCO will be showcasing its latest range of alarms, emergency lighting, sidebars and safety solutions including the new EVAS alarm specifically designed for electric vehicles.
