Webfleet collaborates with Schmitz Cargobull to offer integrated trailer telematics solution

OEM.connect enables Schmitz Cargobull trailers to connect with the Webfleet platform without the need for additional hardware.

Webfleet, Bridgestone’s globally trusted fleet management solution, is expanding its OEM.connect partner programme to trailers.

The first trailer manufacturer joining the OEM.connect programme, is Schmitz Cargobull, the leading manufacturer of semi-trailers for temperature-controlled freight, general cargo and bulk goods in Europe.

Commercial fleet operators can now easily connect Schmitz Cargobull trailers with Webfleet via factory fitted telematics, eliminating the need for aftermarket hardware installations. This way they can access powerful trailer data to boost trailer utilisation, reduce downtime and improve overall safety and security.

“Trailers are the backbone of long-haul goods transportation, but managing a trailer fleet can be challenging,’’ says Taco van der Leij, Vice President Webfleet Europe at Bridgestone Mobility Solutions.

‘’Making our proven Webfleet Trailer solution now easily accessible via OEM data, will help even more businesses with real-time data insights and actionable intelligence maximise trailer performance. We are happy that we are collaborating with Schmitz Cargobull, offering our customers seamless integration with Europe’s leading semi-trailer manufacturer.”

Commercial fleet operators can connect their trailers to the Webfleet platform easily via the Schmitz Cargobull TrailerConnect® telematics portal with their VIN number.

By utilising the factory-fitted telematics there is no need to install any additional hardware, which is saving costs and time. Customers are benefiting from the full capabilities of advanced Webfleet features, from monitoring trip details and location to maintenance and safety monitoring, as well as payload, tyre pressure monitoring (TPMS) and temperature data.

Sören Danielsen, Manager Strategy & Business Development at Schmitz Cargobull added: "With the TrailerConnect® Data Management Center from Schmitz Cargobull, hauliers have full control over their data and can pass on selected data to third parties in an efficient way.

“By intelligently linking information on the vehicle, tour and order, more than just position and temperature data can be selected, processed and transmitted to third-party systems at the touch of a button in future. The TrailerConnect® Data Management Center stands for connectivity and transparency. Everyone involved along the supply chain benefits from this."

The collaboration between Webfleet and Schmitz Cargobull was sealed at IAA TRANSPORTATION 2024 in Hanover, Germany.

The integrated solution is available to European Webfleet customers from now on. Webfleet intends to expand the programme to include trailers from more manufacturers in the near future.
