Astemo invests in new inverter production lines at its Bolton facility, creating and safeguarding more than 200 engineering and manufacturing jobs. The project is backed by the UK Government via funding support from the Automotive Transformation Fund.
Supporting the Future of Electric Vehicles
The manufacturing of efficient, compact, and lightweight inverters will support the next generation of electric vehicle (EV) powertrains and help European OEMs reduce Scope 3 emissions throughout the supply chain.

Astemo UK facility
Astemo, a global designer and manufacturer of automotive components, has unveiled plans to create and safeguard 200 automotive engineering and manufacturing roles at its facility in Bolton. The site will be the base for multiple new inverter production lines to support the next generation of EV powertrains from April 2027.
Government-Backed Innovation
The new production lines are backed by the UK Government via the Automotive Transformation Fund (ATF), led by the Department for Business and Trade in partnership with the Advanced Propulsion Centre. Under the Government’s new DRIVE35 programme, the ATF will continue to unlock private investment in strategic zero-emission vehicle technologies in the UK.
Astemo UK’s next-generation inverters are purpose-engineered for excellent efficiency, compactness, and lightweight design, allowing easy powertrain integration. Manufacturing in Europe ensures compliance with major regional OEMs' green procurement policies and contributes to reducing Scope 3 emissions across the supply chain.
