Fleete announces new 26 bay eHGV charging hub at Hams Hall Distribution Park

Fleete has secured planning permission for a 26-bay electric heavy goods vehicle (eHGV) charging hub at Hams Hall Distribution Park, expanding its national network of shared fleet charging solutions.

Fleete, a pioneering provider of fleet charging solutions, has announced that it has secured planning consent for a new 26 bay electric heavy goods vehicle (eHGV) shared charging hub at Hams Hall Distribution Park in Coleshill, near Birmingham.

Following the development of its first 16-bay site at the Port of Tilbury, Fleete is building out its shared charging hub network at strategic locations across the country. Located off Faraday Avenue at the entrance to Hams Hall, the site sits within the country’s “golden triangle of logistics,” one of the UK’s most active logistics regions. The area is home to a high concentration of warehousing and distribution facilities, with direct connections to the M42 motorway and multimodal freight routes.

Fleete’s new facility will provide fleet operators with convenient, reliable and cost-effective access to charging infrastructure. The hub will allow 26 HGVs to charge simultaneously using 26 ultra-rapid chargers. Selected chargers will include Megawatt Charging System (MCS) capability for future ultra high-power charging. The facility will provide eight truck-and-trailer bays, ten tractor bays, a welfare cabin for driver comfort and 15 park-and-drive car parking spaces to support flexible fleet operation.

While demand for zero emission vehicles continues to grow, limited charging infrastructure and the complexity of securing grid connections remain barriers to commercial fleet electrification. Fleete’s shared charging hub addresses these challenges through a reliable, high powered charging solution designed to make fleet electrification more accessible and practical. It provides fair and efficient sharing of grid capacity between Hams Hall tenants, and accessibility to EV charging for fleets operating in and passing through the Hams Hall area.

“Securing planning consent for our "charging hub at Hams Hall reflects our intent to support the infrastructure required for large-scale fleet electrification at a nationally significant logistics centre,”

said Chris Morrison, CEO of Fleete Group.

“Hams Hall represents a strategically important opportunity within our growing network of shared charging sites. Through this network, we’re helping address infrastructure costs and connection challenges, making the transition to zero emission logistics faster, more practical and more achievable for fleet operators.”

Fleete manages the design, planning and operation of its charging hubs, ensuring an efficient and reliable charging experience for fleet operators. Supported by advanced energy management systems and 24/7 operational monitoring, each site delivers dependable power when and where it’s needed most.
