  • Order follows 232 MAXUS eDELIVER 9s entering service throughout 2025

A major order for Harris MAXUS UK and 750 new MAXUS eDELIVER 9 fully-electric models has been placed by Tesco.

The milestone acquisition reinforces the Tesco commitment to moving to a fully electric home delivery fleet by 2030, and bolstering its position as a leader in sustainability within the food retail sector.

The order marks the largest single electric vehicle order to date for Harris MAXUS UK.

The chassis cab variant of the eDELIVER 9 will be equipped with Solomon-designed and built bodywork with refrigeration systems from Thermo King and GAH. Deliveries will begin from February 2026, and will follow 232 MAXUS eDELIVER 9 models already entering service this year.

Tesco and Harris MAXUS partnership

Rob Smallwood, Tesco Fleet Services Operations Manager, commented:

“Our electric home delivery fleet is an important part of our journey to carbon neutrality across our operations. Placing this order with Harris MAXUS UK will help us on our journey to operating a fully electric home delivery fleet by 2030 Our partnership with Harris MAXUS UK, which began with an innovative electric concept vehicle in 2019, has grown in strength and proven the capability and reliability of the eDELIVER 9 to help decarbonise our delivery operations.”

Bill Laidlaw, UK Sales Director for Harris MAXUS UK, added:

“We are fully committed to supporting Tesco as it works towards its goal of establishing its zero-emissions fleet. Our eDELIVER 9 has consistently demonstrated its capability to meet Tesco’s operational needs, delivering a productive and reliable solution since 2019. eDELIVER 9 capability and performance

With a gross vehicle weight of 4,250kg and payload capacity up to 1,900kg, the eDELIVER 9 chassis-cab configuration supports an impressively wide range of body options.

The MAXUS eDELIVER 9 is a proven EV ideally suited for demanding multi-drop, stop-start, urban logistics operations. Powered with a 150kW (201bhp) electric motor and an 100kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the eDELIVER 9 boasts a WLTP-rated range of up to 219 miles, making it well suited for intensive daily operations.

Rapid charging capability via a 120kW DC fast charger ensures minimal downtime by enabling 80% charge in just 45 minutes; a critical feature for fleet operations.

Driver and vulnerable road user safety is addressed through advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), while ‘Intelligence Onboard’ full telematics integration allows efficient fleet management, driver analytics and real-time monitoring, boosting operational productivity and reducing costs.

As fleets transition to zero-emission vehicles, the MAXUS eDELIVER 9 offers a compelling business proposition, combining range, power, payload and safety, and an ideal solution for the evolving needs of last-mile and urban delivery sectors.
